BACP Webinars

 

BACP offers free business education webinars every Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning. Topics include business licensing, operations, financial resources, marketing, and more. Programs are free and open to the public and taught by industry professionals, not-for-profit agencies, and government agencies.

The Chicago Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) Entrepreneur Certificate Program is a free and optional program available to attendees of the free BACP business education workshop and webinar series. Overview of Chicago’s Minimum Wage Ordinance, Including Annual Increase
Presented by Miguel Campos, Assistant Director, Office of Labor Standards
On July 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Chicago increases for many workers. Employers and workers are encouraged to join this webinar for an overview of the Chicago Minimum Wage Ordinance, topics discussed will include eligibility, annual increase to the minimum wage, overtime wages, and tipped wages. In addition, there will be an overview of the Fair Workweek Ordinance eligibility changes. There will be a Q&A at the end.

Empower Hour: Taylor’s Tacos

In honor and recognition of LGBTQ+ Month, this month’s Empower Hour will feature BACP Commissioner Ken Meyer chatting with Taylor and Maya Mason, Co-Owners of Taylor’s Tacos.Taylor and Maya met in 2016, two years after the first Taylor's taco was made. Maya brought on the creative direction and unique flavor profiles and Taylor took on the business execution and branding.  Together, they officially launched Taylor's Tacos Chicago in 2018. They began with working out of a private commercial kitchen, and now proudly call the UIC/Medical district home to their first brick-and-mortar location.  The candid conversation will cover the start of the business, marketing practices, community involvement and building, and utilizing business resources. The webinar will end with a Q&A for attendees to ask questions.
