Chicago Springs Into Small Business Week With The Launch Of The CHIBIZBLOOMS Campaign

ChiBizBlooms Celebrates Chicago’s Small Businesses and Educates Entrepreneurs on How to Start A Business; Part of Small Business Week May 6 - 10

Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) announced today the launch of ChiBizBlooms, a campaign celebrating Chicago’s small businesses and encouraging future entrepreneurs. ChiBizBlooms supports Crain’s Small Business Week and the Small Business Administration’s National Small Business Week, which runs from May 6 through May 10. This year, BACP will feature neighborhood businesses, nominated by local partner organizations, on the Department’s social media pages and offer free workshops to burgeoning entrepreneurs.

“Small Business Week is a time to re-energize Chicago’s entrepreneurial spirit and celebrate our growth,” said BACP Commissioner Rosa Escareno. “Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy and are essential to Chicago’s economic vitality.”

BACP licenses over 60,000 businesses, with nearly 70% of licenses issued within one day. The City offers resources to anyone looking to launch or grow their business, with over 3,500 attendees taking advantage of BACP’s free workshops in 2018.

“We are excited about the launch of ChiBizBlooms and the opportunity it gives us to highlight Chicago’s incredible small businesses and provide resources to new entrepreneurs,” said Kenya Merritt, Chicago’s Chief Small Business Officer. “This campaign is a call for Chicagoans and visitors to support our local small businesses and an invitation for entrepreneurs to start their own business in Chicago.”

BACP will be offering two business education workshops as part of the ChiBizBlooms campaign. Aimed at helping new entrepreneurs launch their business, these free workshops will take place at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St., 8th floor, Room 805. The complete schedule is below.
