The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a state law that provides citizens with access to public records. 

The Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection maintains the following categories of records:

  • Public Vehicle Licenses
  • Public Way Use Permits
  • Public Chauffeurs
  • Taxi MedallionsBusiness Complaints and Citations
  • License Violations and Fines
  • Consumer Fraud Complaints
  • Cable Complaints

All Freedom of Information requests made to the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection must include the following information:

1.  The name, mailing address, and contact information of the requestor;

2.  A detailed description of the records that are being requested.
