In response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Chicago has joined the State of Illinois in issuing a Stay at Home order effective Saturday, March 21st at 5pm CT. In addition, City of Chicago facilities are closed to the public. Staff are prioritizing essential services to protect the health and safety of our residents and employees. As such, we may be delayed in responding to non-essential inquiries and service requests. Per Department of Buildings Commissioner Judy Frydland, effective immediately and continuing for the next 90 calendars days, hospitals, health care facilities, pharmacies, and similar health care-related services related to COVID-19 screening, prevention, and treatment may utilize the below items to support health care-related functions without the need for a permit from the Department of Buildings:
Any work performed without a permit pursuant to this order must still comply with all applicable provisions of the Chicago Construction Codes.
