Presented by the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago in collaboration with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

While you wait for the 35th Chicago Latino Film Festival (March 28 - April 11 ) watch these six films for free at the Chicago Cultural Center! The films selected are from Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and Brazil and depict the adventures, challenges and joyful moments of youth in Latin America. The young protagonists of these films find themselves in difficult and sometimes dangerous situations because of family conflicts and political unrest in their respective countries. Viewers will follow their personal journeys to realize that despite growing up in a complicated political climate and unconventional family, these children still experience moments of joy and laughter.

Eight-year old Nieve is caught in the middle of a custody fight between her parents- Eva, an artist now married to a Swedish nuclear engineer; and Manuel, an alcoholic playwright- in 1970s Cuba. After the government grants Manuel custody over the child, Nieve escapes and is sent to an orphanage as her mother fights to bring her home.

Dos padres divorciados- Eva, una artista ahora casada con un ingeniero nuclear sueco y Manuel, un dramaturgo alcohólico- luchan por la custodia de su hija Nieve, de ocho años de edad. Cuando el gobierno cubano otorga la custodia de la niña a Manuel, Nieve huye de la casa y es enviada a un orfanato mientras su madre lucha por retenerla.

Living in the mountainous landscape of Colombia, Manuel, a boy whose sole concern in life is fútbol, meets daily at a communal soccer field with his friends. Until one day his life and the reality around him merge when a land mine is triggered steps away. Temporarily banned from the field, Manuel and his friends return their attention to school, where the new schoolteacher is attempting to instill hope in her students, inciting them to find their creativity.

Viviendo en el montañoso y exuberante paisaje de Colombia, Manuel es un niño cuya única preocupación en la vida es el fútbol y cuando lo puede jugar. Él y sus amigos se encuentran diariamente en el campo de fútbol, hasta que un día, su vida cambia cuando una mina explota cerca de la cancha. Les prohíben jugar allí, Manuel y sus amigos regresan al escuela, donde la nueva maestra intenta inspirar a sus alumnos, ayudándolos con clases de arte.

O campo é o único mundo que o jovem Cuca conheceu em toda sua vida, quando seu pai parte para a cidade procurando uma vida melhor, Cuca embarca numa grande aventura pelo Brasil. Cada cidade e situação que ele encontra é desenhada num estilo único por Abreu e seus artistas , descrevendo um país tão vasto e diversificado como alguns dos assuntos que o filme lida.
