Consequences for Non-Payment
If your vehicle is towed to a City Auto Pound and no action is taken to retrieve it, the pound will take its own action. The pound will keep a vehicle on premises for 21 days before the vehicle is eligible for auction or destruction. If you need additional time to retrieve your vehicle, you may ask for a 15-day extension by calling 312.744.PARK. The registered owner is notified by mail of the impending action.
Note: The signing over or involuntary surrender of your vehicle to the City does not waive or decrease any outstanding debt you owe the City.
