City of Chicago Veterans Resource Office
The City of Chicago's Veterans Resource Office is a one-stop clearing house, administered by the Department of Family and Support services, designed to provide assistance for better living and health services to veterans of the United States armed forces and their surviving spouses.
The Veterans Resource Office utilizes city, federal, state, county and community based resources to provide appropriate and timely referral assistance to veterans and their families. Because of these partnerships, the office is able to ensure that our veterans get the benefits they deserve. These resource services include, but are not limited to:
• Veterans' benefits
• Assistance with military service record form DD 214 (Report of Separation)
• Computer access
• Employment assessment, job training and placement
• Health screening
• Casework/case management
• Shelter and housing/rental assistance
• Daily living/life skills
• Emergency food
• Individual and group counseling
• Family counseling for military-related issues
• Substance abuse counseling and/or treatment
• Expunging criminal records
• Extreme weather relief

Central West Hours of operation:
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday Through Friday.
The Central West Center is right across the street from the Jesse Brown VA Hospital and is focused on assisting disabled veterans. For information specific to this center call 312.743.0720.
We are also able to provide veterans with information on available benefits and support services at our six Community Service Centers.
