Services for Veterans and Families

The City of Chicago’s Veterans Resource Office is a one-stop clearing house designed to provide assistance for better living and health services to veterans of the United States armed forces and their surviving spouses.

The Veterans Resource Office utilizes city, federal, state, county and community based resources to provide appropriate and timely referral assistance to veterans and their families. Because of these partnerships, the office is able to ensure that our veterans get the benefits they deserve.

These resource services include, but are not limited to:

  • Veterans’ benefits
  • Assistance with military service record form DD 214 (Report of Separation)
  • Computer access and assistant
  • Employment assessment, job training and placement
  • Health screening
  • Casework/case management
  • Shelter and housing/rental assistance as well as referrals
  • Daily living/life skills
  • Emergency food referrals
  • Individual and group counseling referrals
  • Family counseling for military-related issues
  • Substance abuse counseling and/or treatment referrals
  • Expunging criminal records
  • Extreme weather relief

In an effort to improve our service delivery to US Military Veterans, we have a Veterans Resource Office at 2102 W. Ogden Avenue. In addition, we are also able to provide veterans with information on available benefits and support services at our six Community Service Centers across the city.
