Mayor Richard M. Daley joined the owners of Rogers Auto Group to dedicate the totally reconstructed Rogers Chevrolet/GMC/Buick/Hyundai mega-store on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2720 South Michigan Avenue. Rogers Auto Group offers new cars and premium quality used vehicles, together with award-winning customer service and repairs.
“I strongly believe that government must do all it can to recruit new businesses, which will bring new, good-paying jobs to Chicago and retain existing business,” said Mayor Daley. “And I believe that government can support the efforts of every business in Chicago -- large and small -- to grow and better compete in the new economy.”
“Having Mayor Daley join us to celebrate the dedication of our beautiful new mega-store in Chicago’s South Loop is really an honor and just shows the importance the city places on having businesses like ours reinvest into the community,” said Monty Scher, president of Rogers Auto Group. “Rogers has been a family-owned business in the same neighborhood since the 1940s and we want everyone to know that we remain as committed as ever to serving downtown Chicago vehicle owners.”
Founded by twin brothers Roger and Leonard Scher in 1943, the legendary auto dealer group is now a fourth generation business owned and operated by Monty (and his partner Mark Rinaldi), along with his son John Scher.
It started in 1943 as Rogers Auto Sales which was a staple in the South Side neighborhood that is now called the South Loop. Originally located at 2535 S. Michigan Ave, Rogers provided a great selection of quality pre-driven vehicles. Determination, risk and hard work have been the foundation that has allowed Rogers Auto Group to thrive for more than 70 years.
“Small businesses are part of the lifeblood of our city’s neighborhoods. We must continue to support them and their job growth, and we will, said Daley. “I congratulate Monty Scher and the whole Rogers Auto Group family.”
