Free Amplified Phone and CapTel Device

MOPD Amplified Phone Program

MOPD offers FREE amplified phones, cell phone amplifiers, and CapTel devices to qualified individuals through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC).

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

Be a legal resident of Illinois. Have standard phone service in residence (land-line and/or cell). Have a difficult time hearing on the phone. Have your application signed by a medical professional to confirm your level of hearing.

Test the Phone that's Right for You

There are many different types and degrees of hearing loss. Because a phone works for another person does not mean it will work for you. There are various differences in tone and clarity that must be matched to your needs. The only proven way to do this is to try the phones on a "real" call.

MOPD's Selection Centers

Our Selection Centers at MOPD's two offices are set up to help you test these phones, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm
**At this time, appointments are strongly encouraged in order to test these phones**
