Having trouble hearing on the telephone or know someone who does?
MOPD offers FREE amplified phones and CapTel devices to qualified individuals through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation.
There are no age or income restrictions to qualify for the program.
To qualify for the program, applicants must:
Test the Phone that's Right for You
There are many different types and degrees of hearing loss. Because a phone works for another person does not mean it will work for you. There are various differences in tone and clarity that must be matched to your needs. The only proven way to do this is to try the phones on a real call.
MOPD's Selection Centers
Our Selection Centers at MOPD's two offices are set up to help you test the phones Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact us at:
