Housing

Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and the City of Chicago are pleased to be able to offer hotel rooms to accommodate First Responders as well as critical Health Care Workers from acute care healthcare facilities, in Chicago, during the COVID-19 crisis.

The City of Chicago is offering housing at a number of area hotels for Health Care Workers and First Responders who engage with COVID-19 symptomatic individuals or the spaces COVID-19 patients are being housed in.  This is all in an effort to help keep critical Health Care Workers and their families safe.

Access to Hotel Rooms for Health Care Workers

Due to limited supply, we are focused on healthcare personnel in direct contact with COVID-19 positive or symptomatic persons, including the personnel responsible for cleaning the spaces that serve this population. Within that group, we are prioritizing those who live with others and do not have a means of safe quarantine from other household members (such as a separate room and bathroom).

All 28 Chicago hospitals were sent information on how to participate in the program.  Please consult your Human Resources division to ensure your healthcare facility is eligible to participate in this program.

If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the process please reach out to Neal Heitz (neal.heitz@cityofchicago.org) with the City of Chicago.

Access to Hotel Rooms for First Responders

First Responders should counsult their respective human resources departments for guidance on how to access hotel rooms at the Hotel Essex. If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the process please reach out to Neal Heitz (neal.heitz@cityofchicago.org) with the City of Chicago.
