CHICAGO – Today, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) announces that it will launch a new, bi-weekly Instagram Live talk program to discuss various topics within the Black community regarding health disparities, health care, wellness, mental health, and other related issues.

The program, Dr. Taylor’s Table, will be hosted by Dr. Erica Taylor, who is the medical director for congregate settings at CDPH. Dr. Taylor is a passionate advocate for eliminating the persistent healthcare gaps that exist in marginalized communities, and she has been instrumental in the city of Chicago’s COVID-19 response efforts. Dr. Taylor aims to provide a safe space for Black community members to share their health concerns, learn about important health topics, and take action to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The first edition of Dr. Taylor’s Table will take place on April 21, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. via CDPH’s Instagram @ChiPublicHealth. Audiences can join bi-weekly on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. via IG platform.

“I’m excited to establish a platform that will connect Black people with the resources, services, and knowledge they need to live happy and healthy lives,” said Dr. Erica Taylor. “CDPH is invested in building trust among the Black community, and my hope is that Dr. Taylor’s Table will serve as a sounding board for people seeking to take better care of themselves and each other.”

Dr. Taylor received her Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Medicine and Biology from Augustana College in Rock Island. She is an alum of the Indiana University of School of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Taylor is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds a Master of Science degree in Preventive Medicine with an emphasis in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa.
