The City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) promotes a vibrant economy by encouraging job creation and development of new businesses. The department focuses on business attraction, retention, and expansion of businesses in all sectors, utilizing Local Industrial Retention Initiatives (LIRI) Councils, department staff and often by partnering with community organizations such as World Business Chicago.
