About Us

The City of Chicago Foreign Fire Insurance Board (FFIB) is responsible for managing and allocating funds collected from a tax on foreign (out-of-state) fire insurance companies that conduct business within the city. These funds are dedicated exclusively to the benefit of Chicago Fire Department personnel, supporting the health, safety, and operational efficiency of the department.

The Board oversees the fair distribution of these resources, ensuring that equipment, training, and facilities that enhance firefighter welfare and performance are properly funded. Through careful stewardship, the Board plays a vital role in strengthening the department's ability to serve and protect the residents of Chicago.
