Armitage Industrial Corridor Planning
Framework Adopted by Plan Commission
The Armitage Industrial Corridor Framework Plan was formally adopted by the Chicago Plan Commission at its May 15 meeting.
Armitage Industrial Corridor Planning
The Armitage Industrial Corridor Framework Plan aims to modernize the Northwest Side corridor through strategic City support for local businesses and infrastructure, especially involving jobs, transportation and overall competitiveness.
An initiatve started in spring 2024 by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development in coordination with area business representatives produced a framework plan in spring 2025 to maintain corridor vitality and enhance the area’s unique natural and built assets. The framework also includes recommendations for Planned Manufacturing District #15, located within the central portion of the corridor.
The document's adoption by Plan Commission formalizes the framework's goals and strategies for public realm improvements, policy enhancements, community-oriented cooperation and related efforts to promote job-oriented investments.
One of Chicago's 26 designated industrial corridors, the Armitage Industrial Corridor is generally bounded by Grand Avenue on the north, Oak Park Avenue on the west, Cortland Street and Bloomingdale Avenue on the south, and Cicero Avenue on the east.
