Englewood Nature Trail
CDOT trail projects create off-street shared-use corridors that bring new recreational facilities and public spaces to communities. Trails create safe outdoor places for people to walk, jog, bike, and skate while also providing an alternative transportation system within Chicago’s and the region’s expanding bike network. Trails offer numerous benefits to communities including health, transportation, economic, environmental, and social benefits.
CDOT is in the preliminary design engineering phase of the Englewood Nature Trail improvement project. The project will transform abandoned railroad embankments and bridges into a multi-use trail and community asset. Once constructed, the trail will be a recreational and social resource in the Englewood community. It is anticipated that construction of the Project will commence in summer 2026.
