Humboldt Park Chicago Avenue Corridor Streetscape Improvements

Proposed CDOT streetscape at Harding and Chicago

Overview

CDOT streetscape improvement projects consist of infrastructure, pedestrian safety, and placemaking improvements with the goal of creating unified, safe, walkable, and attractive commercial destinations. Streetscape projects foster community and economic growth by prioritizing investments in pedestrian activity, multi-modal transportation, vibrant public spaces, and quality-of-life amenities for local residents.

The Humboldt Park Chicago Avenue Streetscape project consists of a wide roadway that is prone to speeding and has been identified as a high crash pedestrian corridor. Residents have been vocal about providing a safer corridor for all roadway users. This project will address those concerns while providing a unique look that has been developed based on community feedback. Through this feedback a theme of "People Make the Story" was developed to honor those in the community.
