Statement from Mayor Emanuel on Passing of Pat Koldyke
“Chicago is the great city we are today in part because of the efforts of those who choose to spend their days paying it forward by making a difference in the lives of our children. Pat Koldyke was a dear friend who did not just believe every child in Chicago should have an equal chance at a brighter future, she spent her life working with others to turn that belief into a reality. From her work to create a non-profit to help students and schools that were falling behind, to creating the Golden Apple Award to recognize and reward outstanding educators, Pat made a lasting difference in the lives of Chicago students, schools and communities. Our thoughts are with Pat's beloved husband and partner Mike, the entire Koldyke family and their many friends as we remember and reflect on the legacy of a life lived in service to others."
