Institutional Transformation

What is Institutional Transformation?

Institutional transformation aims to drive organizational change efforts toward advancing racial equity in City policies, practices, and programs at a systems-level. Initiatives that seek to change how the city functions or how it makes decisions fall in this category.

How do we advance Institutional Transformation?

OERJ builds capacity for City leaders by training City departments on frameworks, equity tools, and language. OERJ works with 26 teams to develop Racial Equity Action Plans to ensure they are clear about their commitments to further equity within their sphere of influence. Lastly, OERJ establishes accountability structures for departments by annually reporting progress at the time of budget using the Budget Equity Tool.
