Milwaukee Avenue Spoke Route Meeting

CDOT will begin work in 2013 on the Milwaukee Avenue Spoke Route Project.  Safety improvements on Milwaukee, between Kinzie Street and Elston Avenue (0.85 mi), will include barrier/buffer protected bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings and increased bike parking.  Additionally, CDOT will resurface Milwaukee Avenue within the project limits. 

Due to the width of the roadway, CDOT will reduce on-street parking on Milwaukee Avenue and increase parking opportunities on side streets where possible.  The Milwaukee Avenue design will complement Chicago’s future Bike Share Program and highlight the corridor as a complete street by improving accessibility and convenience for all roadway users.   

CDOT will be holding a neighborhood meeting to discuss the project and provide an overview of existing conditions, proposed design/cross-sections, and impacts to the roadway:
