63rd Street Closed in Two Locations this Week

63rd Street will be closed in two locations this week for repair work related to a freight train viaduct and track maintenance for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Green Line.

On Wednesday, April 10th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 63rd Street will be closed between Bell and Hamilton Avenues for concrete repair work under the CSX Railroad viaduct, just east of Western Avenue.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured around the construction site via Western, to 59th Street, to Damen Avenue.  Westbound traffic will detour via Damen, to 59th, to Western.

There will also be a full closure of 63rd Street at the CTA Green Line elevated tracks between Wells Street and Princeton Avenue this weekend, starting Friday, April 12th at 10 p.m. through Monday, April 15th at 5 a.m.

The closure is for CTA track maintenance. Local access will be maintained up to the hard closure at the elevated tracks.  Access to St. Bernard Hospital, just south of 63rd Street, will be maintained at all times via Stewart Avenue.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured around the maintenance work via Halsted to 59th, to Wells, 63rd.  Westbound traffic will be detoured via Wentworth to 59th Street, to Halsted, to 63rd.
