North DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing: Week of September 22nd

September 22, 2024 Update: Due to inclement weather, the work scheduled for Sunday, September 22 has been postponed and rescheduled for tomorrow, Monday, September 23. Additionally, one southbound lane will remain closed between Irving Park and Diversey.



The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced next week’s schedule for the ongoing resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue. Upcoming work will require temporary full closures of all lanes where work is being performed beginning the evening of Sunday, September 22nd. All work is expected to be completed by late-October.

Based upon the forecasted weather, the below traffic impacts are subject to change.

Sunday, September 22nd: Beginning at 6:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Fullerton Ave. and LaSalle Dr. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Fullerton Ave and LaSalle Dr. All southbound vehicles will exit at Fullerton Ave. and detour to LaSalle Dr. via Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Monday, September 23rd:
Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr via Sheridan Rd, Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Tuesday, September 24th: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr via Sheridan Rd, Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

 

Wednesday, September 25th: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr via Sheridan Rd, Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Thursday, September 26th: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr via Sheridan Rd, Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

 

Friday, September 27th: The work starting Thursday night requiring full traffic closure will be reopened to traffic by 6:00 a.m.

 

CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be alert for workers and equipment.
