The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor/Senior in the Labor Division, to represent the City in labor arbitrations and Illinois Labor Relations Board cases, client counseling, CBA administration and related labor and employment matters.  The Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor/Senior  will work under the general supervision of the City’s Chief Labor Negotiator, Assistant Chief Labor Counsel, and the Deputy of the Labor Division, and will ultimately be given a high level of responsibility for handling complex Labor Board and arbitration cases; supervising attorneys assigned to such cases, including scheduling and assigning arbitration cases; and generally assisting the Chief Labor Negotiator and Assistant Chief Labor Counsel, as needed,  in client counseling and in collective bargaining with approximately 45 unions representing over 30,000 City employees.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an ABA accredited law school, admission to the Illinois Bar (or another state bar having reciprocity with Illinois) prior to November 2006, a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed attorney, including a minimum of two (2) years of legal experience handling Labor Board cases, labor arbitrations, other collective bargaining-related matters or other relevant employment law experience.

Superior writing, research and editing skills; exceptional client counseling and organizational skills; the ability to work well with others; the ability to exhibit leadership and initiative on assigned tasks; and the ability to organize, prioritize, monitor and control workflow deadlines.  Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
