Real Estate

The Real Estate Division regularly partners with City departments to create, structure, implementing and administer the City's affordable housing, "green," "brownfield," and open space initiatives.  Recent examples of such projects include: establishment of the City's Neighborhood Stabilization Program; the lease of a Pullman "brownfield" site for an Exelon solar energy project; and the development of several privately-maintained public parks and plazas.

The Real Estate Division also works on intergovernmental agreements with other City and State bodies to implement cooperative redevelopment efforts.  Recent projects have included a land swap with the Illinois Medical District to facilitate the development of Costco store on the Near West Site; development of numerous campus parks on Board of Education facilities; and the assembly of sites for new public and charter schools.
