The City of Chicago is currently in Phase Four: "Gradually Resume." Many City services have adjusted hours or locations and may require health screens prior to entering their physical
spaces. Please call ahead or visit any department's website to get additional details, or visit chicago.gov/covid-19.
The Department of Streets and Sanitation issues "rat stoppage" tickets to property owners who allow exterior building conditions that provide harborage for rats. To report this sanitation code violation to the Department of Streets and Sanitation, please call 311 or click on the button below to submit a service request. The department will investigate interior and exterior rat problems and issue tickets as needed.
Owners who receive rat stoppage tickets are required to take corrective action within 15 days; failure to comply enables the City of Chicago to perform this work and bill the owner for any costs incurred.
Interior building conditions that are conducive to rodent infestations are under the sole jurisdiction of the Chicago Department of Buildings.
