Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation to Begin Clearing Streets of Debris

February 15, 2018

Residents are encouraged to remove chairs, cones and other objects used to hold shoveled parking spaces to avoid them being thrown away

CHICAGO - The Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) announced that crews will begin clearing objects used by residents to hold shoveled parking spaces beginning Monday, Feb. 19, 2018. Crews will pick up any unclaimed items along their daily garbage collection routes, with special attention given to address all 311 complaints.

"Chicago residents know how to handle the snow, which includes being neighborly and helping one another," said DSS Commissioner John Tully. "As the snow begins to melt, our crews are focused on clearing streets of debris and residents can help by picking up any items they may have on the street."

Residents are encouraged to remove their chairs, cones and other objects to avoid them being thrown away. In addition to the Department's street clearing efforts, crews continue daily work to clean debris from alleys and parkways.
