Kennedy/Kimball TIF

Designation: 2008    Expiration: 2032

Primarily commercial with industrial and mixed-uses, the 152- acre Kennedy/Kimball TIF is intended to help rehabilitate existing commercial and industrial structures for job-intensive uses. Priorities include the assembly and environmental remediation of underutilized property for new investment, the repair and replacement of substandard public infrastructure, and improvements to traffic flow. Strategic locations targeted for TIF-related revitalization include the intersections of Belmont and Kimball avenues, Addison Street and Elston Avenue, and Addison and I-90/94. The TIF is also designed to support the development of parks, playgrounds, plazas and other spaces for public leisure and recreation, the demolition of obsolete or hazardous structures, and projects that expand day care and job training opportunities.
