The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) announced today that O’Hare International Airport completed the first phase of gate renumbering as part of the massive $1 billion overhaul of the airport’s Terminal 5. The terminal redevelopment will add 10 new gates to its eastern wing, and new signage was installed Tuesday on five existing “M” gates to support the new gate configuration. The second phase of renumbering will take place later this month. When it opens late this year, the revamped Terminal 5 will increase passenger amenity space by 66%, reconfigure the customs facilities, and replace the existing baggage handling system to ensure Terminal 5 provides a world-class passenger experience for both domestic and international travelers.
