CHICAGO — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is proud to celebrate five years of partnership with Allegiant Air, marking half a decade of the airline providing affordable nonstop travel to residents in Chicago and the surrounding region.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with Chicago Midway International Airport,” said Kristen Schilling-Gonzales, Allegiant’s VP Planning & Revenue. “Our partnership with MDW has allowed us to provide affordable, nonstop options to countless passengers. This moment marks another milestone in what has been an incredible journey and we look forward to many more years of success.”
As a leisure-focused airline, Allegiant builds their schedule around vacation seasons, making air travel convenient and affordable. A hallmark for the airline is that all of their flights are nonstop. When flying with Allegiant, passengers spend less time at the airport and more time enjoying their vacations.
“I am proud to celebrate Allegiant’s ongoing commitment to Midway over these past five years,” said CDA Acting Commissioner Tracey Payne. “Expanded service and destinations from our low-cost carrier partners helps keep Chicagoans connected to a wide range of destinations for business, leisure or anything in between while keeping airfares affordable.”
Allegiant’s expanded service is just part of what is shaping up to be the busiest summer of air travel in the history of O’Hare and Midway, with more than 17.8 million departing seats scheduled between June and August.
Allegiant is one of three ultra-low cost carriers serving Midway. These carriers’ service is one of the reasons why the U.S. Department of Transportation’s latest Domestic Airline Consumer Airfare Report found that Midway’s airfares are 10% below the national average.
June 2025 will see Allegiant’s largest-ever number of departing seats from Midway in a single month. At the peak of its summer schedule this July, Allegiant will serve six nonstop destinations from Midway, up from four when it first began to fly from Midway in May 2020:
- Asheville, North Carolina (2x weekly)
- Destin, Florida (3x weekly)
- Knoxville, Tennessee (2x weekly)
- Provo, Utah (2x weekly)
- Punta Gorda, Florida (2x weekly)
- Savannah, Georgia (2x weekly)
