Board releases its comments on the Nov. 18 Legislative Inspector General proposal

On November 30, 2015, the Board of Ethics released a Memorandum summarizing its comments and suggestions on the November 18, 2015 proposal submitted to the City Council.  That proposal would amend chapter 2-55 of the City's Municipal Code, which is the enabling ordinance of the Office of the Legislative Inspector General.  The Board is making its Memorandum available to the public pursuant to §§2-156-380 (e), (f) and (g) of the Municipal Code.  These provisions grant the Board the power and duty to (1) consult with city agencies, officials and employees on matters involving ethical conduct; (2) recommend such legislative action as it may deem appropriate to effect the policy of the Governmental Ethics Ordinance; and (3) conduct research in the field of governmental ethics.
