Board publishes draft amendments to the City’s ethics laws

April 29, 2019

As is best practice among ethics commissions, the Board of Ethics always keeps a “wish list” of potential ethics amendments at the ready.  The imminent change in administrations presents a unique opportunity to suggest many reforms: some more routine, others far-reaching.  At the Board’s April 26, 2019 meeting these attached amendments were discussed publicly. They are in draft form.  The Board welcomes comments from the public as to refining these, or suggesting more.  Please email your suggestions to our Executive Director at steve.berlin@cityofchicago.org.  The attached is the Board’s current draft, and a proposal submitted at our April 26 meeting.
