Report on the Consent Decree Entered in Illinois v. Chicago

July 22, 2019

The Police Board on July 18, 2019, amended its Rules of Procedure to incorporate 3 requirements of the Consent Decree into the Board's process for handling disciplinary cases. These changes are the most recent action the Police Board has taken to comply with the requirements of the Consent Decree--see the report on the Board's progress as of July 19. The independent Monitor will conduct reviews or audits to determine whether the City and the Police Board have substantially complied with the requirements of the Consent Decree.

Posted for public review and comment are drafts of hearing officer selection criteria and a policy on training of Board members and hearing officers. Any comments should be sent to the attention of Executive Director Max Caproni (Max.Caproni@cityofchicago.org) so they are received by Thursday, August 22, 2019.
