Property Tax Incentive Proposed For Northwest Side Mirror And Frame Manufacturer
(312) 744-9267
A 70-year-old frame and mirror company would maintain its 23-person manufacturing complex in West Town through a property tax incentive renewal introduced to City Council today by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The Class 6(b) incentive would help Stonemill Keep Properties LLC, which operates under the name of Armand Lee & Co., by lowering the property tax rate on its 13,000-square-foot industrial building at 840 N. Milwaukee Ave. The lowered rate is valued at $209,000 over the next 12 years.
Armand Lee & Co. is known for custom-made mirrors, frames, and meticulously restored fine art, furniture and antiques, many of which are displayed and sold at the nearby Merchandise Mart.
The incentive, available through Cook County, would renew an earlier property tax incentive that helped the company rehabilitate the facility for its current uses.
