Major Taylor Trail
104th Street to 125th Street
(Washington Heights, Morgan Park and West Pullman, 34th Ward)

An introductory overview of the Major Taylor Framework Plan. DPD seeks to leverage the Major Taylor Trail as a neighborhood asset in portions of Washington Heights, Morgan Park and West Pullman. The planning effort between 104th and 125th streets seeks to identify a shared vision for catalyzing equitable trail-oriented development on nearby blocks in proximity to the trail.

Morgan Park Commons
11420 S. Halsted St.
(Morgan Park / 34th Ward)

Far South CDC seeks to develop Morgan Park Commons on the former 12.06-acre (525,334-square-foot) Jewel grocery store located at the northwest corner of 115th Street and South Halsted Street in the East Morgan Park neighborhood of Chicago’s 34th Ward. Adjacent to the Greater Roseland INVEST South/West Area, the site brings together three historic neighborhoods of East Morgan Park, West Pullman and West Roseland — “downtown West Pullman”. The proposed Project will demolish an existing 67,000-square-foot vacant commercial retail store and redevelop with 150 mixed-income rental units, 136 units of affordable townhouses, 10,000-20,000 square feet of retail space and 3 acres of open green space. The development is bordered on the west side by the Major Taylor Trail and has relationships with surrounding commercial businesses on Halsted. Draft Presentation
