"I applaud this morning’s vote by the House Transportation Committee and Chairman John D'Amico for his leadership and Rep. Edward Acevedo for his commitment to this issue. The Committee’s action today makes our City and State more welcoming to immigrants, while also making our roads safer by requiring all drivers to be trained, tested and insured. The more we can do to help recent immigrants step out the shadows, the more they can do to make active contributions to our communities and economy. I urge the full House to swiftly act on this critical legislation."
