Mayor Emanuel Encourages Clinton Shepherd on His Pursuit of a World Record Setting 48 Hour Ferris Wheel Ride

Today, Mayor Emanuel visited Navy Pier to celebrate Armed Forces Day and honor the commitment, sacrifice and patriotism of America's armed forces.

While at the Pier, Mayor Emanuel greeted Clinton Shepherd, general manager of operations for Navy Pier, who is in the midst of a world record setting 48 hour Ferris wheel ride.

This week, the Mayor announced Elevate Chicago, a $1.1 billion program to renew, revitalize and expand McCormick place and Navy Pier and accelerate Chicago’s tourism and convention industry. Part of Elevate Chicago will be the initial $168 million renovation of Navy Pier, scheduled to begin this fall, which will include more open spaces, restaurants, improvements to outdoor and indoor areas, and a greatly expanded Chicago Children's Museum.
