Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Park District, in collaboration with the One Summer Chicago Jobs program, today announced that a job fair for teens will be held on Saturday, December 19 at Soldier Field, 1410 Museum Campus Drive, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“One of the best ways that we can build safer and stronger communities throughout Chicago is by giving more of our young people job opportunities but also the skills and guidance they need to make the most of those opportunities. This job fair is an important part of that effort,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “With the help our Park District and initiatives like One Summer Chicago, we are giving more of Chicago’s youth, not just a paycheck but also a better set of values today so they can make a better set of choices tomorrow."

Tailored for youth ages 14-18, the job fair is aimed at connecting teens to future employment opportunities, as well as preparing them for success in interviews and application processes. Activities will include resume workshops, networking, mock interviews and more. Participants should be dressed in business casual attire and bring resumes. Teens can register here.

One highlight of the event is the “Career Ready Fashion Show,” offering viewers the dos and don’ts of work attire. It will be moderated by Chicago radio personality Kendra G. of WGCI. Other attractions also include a Parent Workshop Session, giveaways and raffles. Event partners include City of Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services, City Colleges of Chicago, True Star Magazine, Coca Cola and more.

“As one of the leading providers of summer employment for youth, we feel compelled to offer the opportunity to give young people access to the tools needed for career success,” said Michael P. Kelly, Superintendent and CEO of the Chicago Park District.

Entrance to the venue is accessible through Gate #6, located on the east side of the Stadium (Gate #14 ADA Accessible). The event will be held in the Stadium Club Room. Free parking is available in the Waldron Lot, located south of the stadium.

The Chicago Park District’s 2014 Teen Success Fair was a precursor to this year’s event, and attracted 750 teens.

Launched in 2011, One Summer Chicago is a citywide jobs program designed to keep youth safe and engaged during the summer while providing valuable job training and work experience. Since taking office, Mayor Emanuel has significantly expanded the summer job program, a key violence prevention effort that helps youth learn professional skills and give back to their communities as they earn a paycheck. This past summer, more than 24,000 youth were employed through the program--marking the city's largest jobs program to date.
