Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined Capgemini today to unveil the company’s new advanced technology and development center. The new tech center and expanded office space brings 500 jobs to Chicago and further strengthens Chicago’s presence as a technology and innovation hub.
“Capgemini’s commitment to expanding in Chicago demonstrates the City’s growing strength as a tech and innovation hub,” Mayor Emanuel said. “Companies are drawn to Chicago because we have one of the largest tech talent pools in the country, and I look forward to working with Capgemini to continue building the workforce of the future.”
“Chicago is home to great tech talent and it’s critical that we continue to attract skilled employees who are essential in helping our clients transform their businesses in an increasingly fast-paced, digitally driven market,” said John Mullen, member of the Group Executive Committee and President of the North America Business Unit at Capgemini. “Our new office is a place where employees and clients can push the limits on how technology can help their businesses grow, leveraging industry-leading partnerships and end-to-end capabilities in digital, cloud, innovation, business and IT transformation services.”
The new center at 333 W. Wacker Drive is the first in the Midwest and represents part of Capgemini’s worldwide, connected network of innovation centers, designed to serve clients across all major industries. Capgemini’s innovation centers allow diverse teams of experts to develop new technology and digital experiences, while shaping the next wave of world-class talent in fast-growing areas such as digital, cloud, artificial intelligence, customer experience innovation and emerging technology.
“Emerging technologies like AI and machine learning are providing businesses with opportunities they’ve never had before, however this also means they are facing new levels of complexity to embed these technologies into their organizations,” added Tim Bridges, Head of Global Industries at Capgemini. “With the expanded capabilities based in our Chicago office, we’ll be able to work closely with our clients to ensure they’re engaging in these technologies and know how to take full advantage of them to keep their organizations at the forefront of digital transformation.”
The Capgemini office first opened in May 2014. Today, the company has grown to include more than 43,000 square feet over two floors. The expansion will house the company’s 1,200 employees and provide room to grow.
“With the most diversified economy in the U.S., Chicago’s broad industry base allows global companies to thrive,” Andrea Zopp, President and CEO of World Business Chicago, said. “This coupled with our burgeoning innovation ecosystem enables companies like Capgemini to be leaders within their sector.”
