Statement from Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot On Chicago Public Library Commissioner Andrea Telli’s Retirement

Mayor's Press Office    312.744.3334

"Commissioner Andrea Telli's remarkable leadership over our great library system and within the City of Chicago over the past 30 years has truly made our city a better place, and ensured that our libraries have everything they need to serve and enrich our neighborhoods. In her year as Commissioner, Andrea eliminated library fines and fees and expanded Sunday hours, significantly increasing resident access to our robust library system and services all across the city. The library has always had a special place in my heart. It's where I gained the ability to dream, imagine, and tell stories. It's how I met my lovely wife, Amy. And it's where I met my good friend, Andrea. Thanks to Andrea, Chicago's libraries will continue to have a central and trusted role within our communities, as we begin a national search for her successor. I want to extend my warm congratulations to Andrea for her well-earned retirement and wish her and her family nothing but the best as they begin this exciting, new chapter of their lives."
