The City of Chicago is Taking Proactive Public Safety Measures Based on Local and National Events

April 19, 2021

The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), the Chicago Police Department along with other public safety agencies and infrastructure departments are closely monitoring incidents of local and national significance. To enhance public safety of all residents, OEMC’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will continue to coordinate the operational response to any incidents related to this event.

While there is no actionable intelligence at this time, infrastructure assets will be strategically staged to ensure the safety of residents, neighborhood commercial corridors and critical businesses. Out of an abundance of caution, a contingent of the Illinois National Guard will be on standby here in Chicago in the event that additional personnel are required to maintain public safety. We will continue to work with the city’s public safety and infrastructure departments to have the appropriate resources in place to enhance public safety citywide.

OEMC would like to remind residents that if you see something, please call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity. Residents can also receive Notify Chicago emergency alerts by subscribing to Chicago’s text or email alert system at and businesses can opt-in to receive emergency alerts by texting CHIBIZ to 6-7-2-8-3.
