The recent federal cuts to arts and cultural funding are deeply concerning, posing a serious threat to the vitality of our communities and institutions—not only in Chicago but nationwide. In this time of uncertainty, the grant programs and financial support provided by DCASE will be more essential than ever in sustaining and strengthening the work of artists and arts organizations.
Commissioner Hedspeth remains firmly committed to advocating for the arts and cultural sectors and is actively working to secure additional resources. DCASE is currently engaging directly with some of the hardest-hit arts organizations to understand their needs and offer support. We are also responding to questions from artists and organizations seeking guidance on available resources. This is a challenging time, and it is vital that we stand together to ensure the continued health and vibrancy of our cultural landscape.
