Pullman Arts

 

Project: Pullman Arts & Culture Fest

October 15 & 16, 2022

Pullman Arts will present a two day festival on the far South Side! We seek to engage the Pullman and Roseland communities and neighbors with world class entertainment, food, art & culture.


Greater Englewood CDC

 

Project: Englewood Music Festival

63rd & Halsted St.

The Englewood Music Festival will take place, Saturday, September 17, 2022. The day-long event will be free to the public. 5,000 attendees are expected.


Principle Barbers

 

Project: Tæmber

Saturday, September 17, 2022

3820 W. Ogden Ave.

Tæmber is a monthly performance event for the North Lawndale community at Principle Barbers store front and backyard. It consists of live DJs, live jazz and musicians from North Lawndale. A culminating festival will take place on September 17.


South Side Community Art Center

 

Project: South Side Community Art Center Homecoming

Saturday, September 17, 2022, 12-5pm

3831 S. Michigan Ave.

This free event in SSCAC’s new side lot will invite community members and artists of all disciplines to celebrate life and creativity post-pandemic, with music by Akenya and Black Monument Ensemble.


Blues Heaven Foundation

 

Project: Record Row Concert Series

Annual event running from the first Thursday in June (June 2, 2022) until the third Thursday in September (September 15, 2022)

Concerts are from 6-7:30pm

Chess Records building, 2120 S. Michigan Ave. (held in the outdoor, green space, park setting of Willie Dixon's Blues Garden adjacent to the historic Chicago landmark)

2022 marks the 20th year of the non profit Blues Heaven Foundation, providing FREE entertainment to the community with music, dance and education through our Record Row Concert Series.


South Shore Chamber of Commerce

 

Project: Chicago Presents

Connect South Shore is a 2-Day arts festival that uplifts the culture of South Shore through Art, Music, Food and entertainment. We curate a unique experience of various music genres, food and film.

Asia on Argyle Corridor, from Broadway to Sheridan

Argyle Activation Walk in July with 10+ outdoor pop-up spaces, and the Argyle Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in September as a corridor wide street festival.


Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation

 

Project: 79th Street Renaissance Festival

The annual 79th Street Renaissance Festival is a staple in the Auburn Gresham community, with the 2019 two-day event generating more than 25,000 people in attendance and over 100 vendors participated.

Live the Spirit Residency presents the 23rd annual Englewood Jazz Festival, September 14–17, 2022. A Pop Up Jazz Fest on August 29th at the Englewood Whole Foods builds anticipation in the community.


South Chicago Parents and Friends, Inc.

 

Project: Sweet Home South Chicago

Saturday, August 27, 2022, 10am-6pm

SSA 5, Commercial Ave. from 87th-90th St.; Main Stage on 90th St., West of Commercial Ave.

This event introduces residents to all of the cultural, arts, business and nonprofits in South Chicago. The music stage will draw residents to the event where sidewalk activities are the main attraction.

Project: 2022 Fahrenheit Chicago Summer Festival

August 26-28, 2022

The following is supported by the Chicago Presents grant:

  • Sunday, Aug. 28, 1-10pm: The DuSable, Black History Museum & Education Center - The event will celebrate queer performance artists; artisans, entrepreneurs, community based organizations, civic leaders and thought leaders.

Fahrenheit Chicago is an annual humanities festival dedicated to using the discipline to address CDC's social determinants of health impacting Chicago's Black and Brown LGBTQ communities citywide.


Sandra Streeter (Englewood Back To School Parade Inc)

 

Project: The 61st Englewood Back To School Parade & Southside Gospel Fest

The Parade creates opportunities for Englewood’s deserving youth to showcase their talent by dancing in the parade procession and by performing on the parade stage at the parade finale.

Villapalooza will partner with local community gardens to create three family friendly musical events that promote the beauty of nature and culture of the neighborhood.


South Asia Institute

 

Project: South Asian Freedom Festival 2022

The South Asian Freedom Festival is a free, two-day music and dance festival celebrating the 75th independence anniversaries of Pakistan and India.


Chicago Defender Charities, Inc.

 

Project: Bud Billiken 2022

The Bud Billiken Parade and Festival is more than a procession of bands and floats marching down King Drive, it is a commemoration of our past and a celebration of our future.


The South Side Jazz Coalition

 

Project: The Southeast Chicago Jazz Festival at Chicago State University

A one-day live music festival in collaboration with Chicago State University featuring Chicago professional musicians and aspiring music students.

Produced by the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, Fiesta del Sol is the largest non alcoholic, non tobacco, free admission festival in the nation with over 1.2 million people each year.


Chicago Austin Youth Travel Adventures, Inc. NFP

 

Project: Austin Town Hall Summer Music Series 2022

Community Day at Colombian Fest features live music, workshops, Afro-Colombian dance and music, drumming and a sports camp.


Northwest Side CDC

 

Project: ¡Mercado! Event Series

July 16 & September 17, 2022

¡Mercado! is an event series in which outdoor markets activate underutilized or unexpected spaces, such as parking garages in Belmont Cragin with food, vendors, arts, and culture.

Uptown United is requesting funding for the Argyle Night Market which features live cultural and musical performances in partnership with Elastic Arts and local Uptown performance and non-profit groups.

Lot Jams is a free, family-friendly outdoor concert series hosted by North River Commission and the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce. Concerts are hosted in partnership with local businesses.

World Refugee Day Chicago

 

Project: World Refugee Day Chicago for year 2022

Annual festival featuring performances by refugee, asylee and immigrant artists. This day also includes a soccer tournament and children’s activities, which are important to the refugee community.

All performances will be filmed for inclusion in DRDT’s HMS Media documentary, celebrating DRDT’s 25 years and to be aired on public television and WVON in October.

Deeply Rooted and the Sam Thousand Orchestra will celebrate Chicago-born composer Quincy Jones with performances at Chicago parks featuring original choreography set to his music.
