Three Chicago schools will make assorted facility upgrades through Tax Increment Financing (TIF) assistance approved today by the City Council.

“When we invest in our students, we invest in our future,” Mayor Emanuel said. “TIF must continue to help our schools provide the comfortable, accessible resources that all our students deserve.”

Chase Elementary School
Chase Elementary School, 2021 N. Point St., will receive $3.6 million in TIF for a new elevator, new entrance ramps and ADA-compliant restrooms. Exterior upgrades will include new sidewalks, a play lot and an artificial turf field.

Morgan Park High School
Morgan Park High School, 1744 W. Pryor Ave., will receive $44,000 in TIF funds for the installation of ceiling fans. The fans will be used during warm weather as an effective alternative to a cost-prohibitive air conditioning system.

Nicholas Senn High School
Nicholas Senn High School, 5900 N. Glenwood Ave., will receive $1 million in TIF for auditorium upgrades involving new seats and floors. The $3.3 million project will also provide a new audio system, control room and air conditioning. The Chicago Board of Education will fund the balance of the project.
