47th/State TIF

Designation: 2004    Expiration: 2028

The 47th/State TIF district was created to facilitate the Chicago Housing Authority's redevelopment of a portion of the Robert Taylor Homes housing complex as a pedestrian-scale, mixed-income, residential community. Encompassing portions of the Grand Boulevard and Washington Park communities, district increment is intended to help reestablish the street grid where it had been eliminated for the public housing complex, assist the development of owner-occupied housing units, and to facilitate retail construction along State Street between 50th Street and Garfield Boulevard. With many blocks within the 346-acre district more than 50 percent vacant, the TIF is also intended to aid land assembly efforts for new development projects.
