The past week has been a special one for students at Jones College Prep. On Saturday, the Jones Boys’ Cross Country team made history as the first team from their school in any sport to capture a state title with their win in the Class 2A State Cross Country match and as the first Chicago Public Schools high school to win a cross-country state championship since 1963. Today, Mayor Emanuel congratulated the team and their coach Andrew Adelmann for their success and proclaimed today, November 7, 2012 to be “Jones College Prep Boys Cross Country Team Day.”

“Today is the culmination of a long journey that you started together, and you are showing today that Chicago is truly a city of champions,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Your hard work and dedication is an inspiration to us all and serves as a reminder of the success our students can achieve both on and off the field.”

The Mayor also recognized the accomplishments of the Jones Girls’ Cross Country team, who finished third in the City championships and competed admirably in the state championship series as well.
