A drainlayer license is required to obtain a permit for the construction, repair, adjustment, rodding or cleaning of any subsurface structure designed to collect or transport storm and/or sanitary waste water (sewer), either on private property or in the public way.
The Department of Buildings, Sewer Permit Section, administers drainlayer licensing and license renewals on behalf of the Department of Water Management.
