CAB Studio
The Chicago Architecture Biennial (CAB) is thrilled to announce the opening of the CAB Studio—a new, year-round exhibition space located on the first floor of the Chicago Cultural Center. The Studio is a space to explore design and present innovative ideas. Here, CAB will host exhibitions, programs, and events, including youth and family activities.

Culture in My Neighborhood
Announced as part of the Arts77 recovery and reopening plan, Culture in My Neighborhood is a unique partnership between the Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Library, and Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) to advance Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot’s vision for equitable access to the arts in all of Chicago’s 77 community areas.
DCASE Presents: Underground Music Showcase
Chicago’s thriving underground music scene makes its debut at the Chicago Cultural Center. On June 2, four underground sensations will play the newly renovated Claudia Cassidy Theater in a one-night-only showcase.
Dance Residency Open Studio Series
During 2022’s Year of Chicago Dance, a new dance floor was installed in the Chicago Cultural Center’s Dance Studio and an application was opened to provide space, time and funding for Chicago dancemakers to create new work. The first cohort of artists has been selected, and they will offer a series of Open Studio public events through June 2023.

Screenhouse by Edra Soto
Constructed from approximately 400 charcoal-hued, 12-inch cast concrete blocks, the 10-foot high pavilion-like structure comes out of an ongoing series exploring symbolic transplants of iron grills and decorative concrete screen blocks found throughout the Caribbean and the American South.
