New Process for Documenting Energy Conservation (Energy Code) Compliance

The Department of Buildings is pleased to announce an updated process for licensed design professionals to document compliance with the Chicago Building Code's energy conservation requirements in connection with plan-based building permit applications.
  
Effective immediately, the Registered Energy Professional (REP) program is eliminated and any Illinois-licensed design professional can complete a 1-page Compliance Statement summarizing the project's means of compliance with energy conservation requirements. The Compliance Statement, along with supporting documentation, must be uploaded to ProjectDox as part of the permit application. No additional statement is required on the permit drawings, however the drawings must include details about construction as required by sections R103.2 and C103.2 of the International Energy Conservation Code, 2015 edition.
  
The Department will continue to accept REP-signed statements through July 31, 2018.
