119th/I-57 TIF

Designation: 2002    Expiration: 2026

The 119th Street/I-57 TIF district was created to enable new development at key sites within the Morgan Park community, especially for projects that benefit from the area's proximity to I-57. Priorities include new commercial uses on the northwest corner of I-57 and 119th, also along 111th Street both east and west of the highway. Mixed-income housing priorities include the residential redevelopment of small scale industrial sites at 122nd Street and Ashland Avenue, and on an in-fill basis throughout the community. The 315-acre is intended to help reconfigure traffic patterns and build new access routes to relatively isolated residential streets adjacent to I-57. Additionally, the district is designed to improve the appearance and functionality of major area intersections and help establish job readiness and training programs.
