73rd/Kedzie TIF

Designation: 1993    Terminated: 2012

More than half of the 105-acre 73rd/Kedzie TIF district includes Nabisco's sprawling Chicago bakery. Designed to promote job retention and creation at the bakery and the redevelopment of largely vacant land elsewhere within the district, the TIF provides a coordinated resource for improvements involving land assembly, vehicular circulation, parking and related land use issues. Surrounded by residential areas and located next to two rail yards, the district's industrial improvement efforts are designed to occur on a coordinated basis and within a reasonable time period. Increment from the TIF is also available to provide job training and readiness programs.
